Wash. Senate Backs BPA Ban On Children's Products

Law360, New York (March 8, 2010, 6:51 PM EST) -- Washington's Senate has passed a bill that will make the state the fifth in the U.S. to ban controversial chemical bisphenol A from baby bottles, sippy cups and other children’s products.

The Safe Baby Bottle Act passed the state Senate on Monday by a 38-9 vote. The measure will now go to Gov. Chris Gregoire, who is expected to sign the bill into law, according to Margie Kelly, a spokeswoman for Safer Chemicals, Healthy Families, a coalition of environmental health advocacy groups.
