House Signs Off On Bill Adding 35 Bankruptcy Judges

Law360, New York (March 16, 2010, 4:29 PM EDT) -- Help could be on the way for overworked federal bankruptcy judges now that the U.S. House of Representatives has passed a new bill that would permanently add 35 judges to the bench.

The Bankruptcy Judgeship Act of 2010 passed the House 345-5 on Friday, with 80 abstentions. It creates 13 new judge positions and converts 22 temporary positions to permanent status. It also extends two temporary positions by five years.
