Argentina Defends Media Law Against HBO's Jabs

Law360, New York (April 5, 2010, 1:44 PM EDT) -- Argentina has taken steps to defend a media law that requires foreign television programmers to pay additional taxes, urging the U.S. International Trade Commission to ignore criticism from HBO Latin America Group as it continues an investigation into small and midsize companies’ export practices.

The Argentine government said HBO LAG’s claims that the law violates World Trade Organization agreements are rooted in misleading interpretations of those agreements, according to a brief filed Thursday with the ITC.
