Merrill Lynch Analyst Jailed For Insider Trading Scam

Law360, New York (January 8, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- A judge has jailed a former Merrill Lynch analyst for more than three years for insider trading after he admitted leaking sensitive information about pending mergers.

Stanislav Shpigelman, a former analyst in the investment firms’ mergers and acquisitions division, apologized in court for leaking secret information that allegedly led to illegal trading worth more than $6 million.
