Cable, Satellite Firms Sued Over Streaming Media Patents

Law360, New York (June 15, 2004, 12:00 AM EDT) -- In a case that could have broad implications for online audio and video transmissions, Acacia Technologies has expanded its litigation over its controversial streaming-media patents with lawsuits against nine major cable and satellite providers.

Acacia’s lawsuit, filed in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, names as defendants the Comcast Corporation, Charter Communications, Inc., The DirectTV Group, Inc., Echostar Communications Corporation, Boulder Ridge Cable TV, Central Valley Cable TV, LLC, Seren Innovations, Inc., Cox Communications, Inc., and Hospitality Network, Inc.
