Legal Aid Society's $1.7M Contract Suit V. US Nixed

Law360, New York (April 12, 2010, 3:54 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Court of Federal Claims has thrown out a lawsuit that accused the Administrative Office of the United States Courts of breaching contracts with the Legal Aid Society of New York by refusing to cover $1.7 million in pension-related liabilities after the society's Federal Defender Division was dissolved in 2005.

Judge Nancy B. Firestone signed off on an opinion Thursday dismissing LASNY's complaint for failure to state a claim upon which relief could be granted and for lack of subject matter jurisdiction.
