Rumors Swirl As US Airways Raises Delta Bid

Law360, New York (January 10, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- US Airways upped its courtship bid for bankrupt Delta Air Lines Inc. on Wednesday, raising its offer by 20% to $10.2 billion. But even that may prove to be insufficient now that rumors of another suitor, Northwest Airlines Corp., has emerged as a “promising third option.”

Northwest may be having recurring talks with Delta over a potential merger, possibly after both have emerged from Chapter 11 protection, according to the Wall Street Journal.
