Ex-Comverse Attorney Settles Backdating Case

Law360, New York (January 10, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission settled civil charges Wednesday with William F. Sorin, the former general counsel of Comverse Technology, Inc., over an alleged scheme to backdate stock option grants.

As part of the settlement, Sorin will pay a $3 million fine and is prohibited from acting as an officer or director of a public company. The SEC is still investigating criminal charges of securities fraud, mail fraud and wire fraud that Sorin pleaded guilty to in an agreement with the United States Attorney's Office...
