Ohio Sen. Asks DOT To Ground Airline Mergers

Law360, New York (April 20, 2010, 2:11 PM EDT) -- With reports swirling that United Air Lines Inc. and US Airways are in merger talks, Sen. Sherrod Brown, D-Ohio, has urged the government not to approve further consolidation in the airline industry, saying that allowing more mergers to go through will harm local airports and reduce jobs.

Brown wrote a letter to U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood on Monday to express his concern over the effects that airline mergers could have on jobs, air service and ticket prices.
