US Airways Ends Merger Talks With United

Law360, New York (April 22, 2010, 5:29 PM EDT) -- US Airways Group Inc. announced Thursday that it had tabled merger discussions with United Air Lines Inc.'s parent UAL Corp., perhaps paving the way for Continental Airlines Inc. to succeed in its own talks regarding a combination with UAL.

US Airways Chairman and CEO Doug Parker confirmed a long-standing rumor that his company had been negotiating a tie-up with United Airlines, but added that “after extensive review and careful consideration,” the board of directors decided to shut the talks down for the time being.
