High Court Won't Reopen Cases For Asian Carp Fight

Law360, New York (April 26, 2010, 5:17 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Supreme Court has nixed Michigan's bid to reopen a decades-old dispute about water rights, handing a third defeat to the state in its fight to prevent Asian carp from invading the Great Lakes through the Chicago canal system.

In an order issued Monday without comment, the Supreme Court rejected both Michigan's bid to reopen the three water-rights cases and the state's alternative request to open a new case to address the Asian carp threat.
