Gulf Coast Fishermen, Shrimpers Sue BP Over Oil Spill

Law360, New York (April 29, 2010, 5:36 PM EDT) -- Gulf Coast shrimpers and commercial fishermen have filed two putative class actions against BP America Inc. and Transocean Ltd. over alleged economic losses from the massive oil spill following a deadly April 20 oil rig explosion.

A putative class of red snapper and grouper fishermen filed suit against BP and Transocean on Wednesday in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Florida.

Also on Wednesday, two shrimpers filed suit in the U.S. District Court for the District of Louisiana on behalf of Louisiana residents...
