Ex-Computer Associates Lawyer Gets Jail Time

Law360, New York (January 16, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- The former general counsel for Computer Associates Inc. was sentenced to two years in jail for his part in a $2.2 billion scheme to inflate the software company’s quarterly revenue through backdated sales deals, becoming the third disgraced company leader to be sent to prison.

Stephen Woghin pled guilty in September 2004 to securities fraud, conspiracy and obstructing the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission’s investigation, said Robert Nardoza, a spokesman for the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of New York.
