Nike's LeBron Products Infringe Trademarks: Suit

Law360, New York (April 30, 2010, 4:36 PM EDT) -- Nike Inc. is facing a trademark infringement suit from streetwear apparel maker Milkcrate Athletics Inc. over a line of products endorsed by professional basketball player LeBron James.

Milkcrate lodged a complaint Thursday in the U.S District Court for the Southern District of New York, accusing Nike of making athletic clothing and footwear that looks “confusingly similar” to Milkcrate's own designs.

“Defendant's merchandise is likely to cause confusion and to deceive consumers and the public regarding its source, and dilutes the distinctive quality of plaintiff's marks,” the...
