Dun & Bradstreet Deal Created Near-Monopoly: FTC

Law360, New York (May 7, 2010, 6:22 PM EDT) -- The Federal Trade Commission has sued Dun & Bradstreet Corp., alleging its $29 million acquisition of a Scholastic Inc. unit has created a near-monopoly in the market for kindergarten through 12th grade educational marketing databases.

The FTC issued an administrative complaint against Dun & Bradstreet on Thursday, claiming that the company's purchase of Quality Education Data from Scholastic in early 2009 gave it more than 90 percent of the market for K-12 educational marketing data.
