GSK To Pay $60M To Settle Avandia Suits

Law360, New York (May 11, 2010, 3:25 PM EDT) -- GlaxoSmithKline PLC has reportedly agreed to pay about $60 million to settle a wave of suits accusing it of suppressing evidence that its diabetes drug Avandia causes heart attacks and strokes.

The settlements will resolve about 700 lawsuits over the drug, Dow Jones reported Tuesday. The plaintiffs are represented by attorneys including Mark Lanier of The Lanier Law Firm and Sol Weiss of Anapol Schwartz Weiss Cohan Feldman & Smalley PC, according to Dow Jones.
