Toshiba Settles Suit Over Defective Notebook Hinges

Law360, New York (May 12, 2010, 4:43 PM EDT) -- Plaintiffs in a proposed class action accusing Toshiba America Information Systems Inc. of selling notebook computers with defective hinges have asked a judge to approve a settlement and to award the plaintiffs' counsel $900,000.

The plaintiffs said in a motion filed Monday in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California that the court should give final approval to the deal, which calls for class members to receive up to $225 for reimbursement on the repair of their Toshiba notebook computers.
