Woman Drops Vioxx Suit

Law360, New York (January 22, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- In another victory for Merck & Co., a woman who blamed her husband’s death on the painkiller Vioxx dropped her lawsuit against the pharmaceutical company on Monday, five weeks before it was scheduled to go to trial.

Angela McCool had claimed that Vioxx caused her husband’s heart attack, which killed him. She voluntarily dismissed her product liability suit in Philadelphia county court with prejudice, Merck said. McCool will not be allowed to re-file her claim.
