Samsung Settles Open Source Software Copyright Suit

Law360, New York (May 13, 2010, 3:37 PM EDT) -- Samsung Electronics America Inc. has struck a deal with an open source software rights enforcement group accusing the electronics giant and a number of others of infringing a copyright for a program used to run a broad array of devices, including DVD players and wireless routers.

Judge Shira A. Scheindlin of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York signed off Wednesday on the stipulated dismissal without prejudice, making Samsung the third company to exit Software Freedom Conservancy Inc.'s suit.
