115 Calif. Suits Cut From Prempro MDL

Law360, New York (May 17, 2010, 5:04 PM EDT) -- A federal judge has cut 115 cases from the multidistrict litigation alleging Wyeth Pharmaceuticals Inc.'s hormone replacement pill Prempro caused breast cancer, ruling that the cases are barred by California's two-year statute of limitations.

U.S. District Judge William R. Wilson Jr. of the Eastern District of Arkansas granted the pharmaceutical company defendants' motion for summary judgment and dismissed the suits Friday.

Wyeth, Pfizer Inc., Pharmacia & Upjohn Co., and Greenstone Ltd. filed a motion for summary judgment in the cases in March, maintaining that they were...
