High Court Won't Hear Cablevision's 'Must Carry' Suit

Law360, New York (May 17, 2010, 4:07 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Supreme Court on Monday declined to take up Cablevision Systems Corp.'s challenge to an 18-year-old federal rule requiring cable television operators to carry local broadcast stations on their systems.

The high court's denial of Cablevision's petition for a writ of certiorari upheld the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit's June 22 ruling that the Federal Communications Commission acted reasonably in requiring the cable company to carry a distant home shopping station's signal under the “must carry” requirement of the Cable Television Consumer...
