Author Hits 'Avatar' Creators With Copyright Suit

Law360, New York (May 17, 2010, 7:07 PM EDT) -- A California woman has sued filmmaker James Cameron, News Corp. subsidiary Twentieth Century Fox Film Corp. and others, saying they stole elements of her book to create the blockbuster film “Avatar.”

Kelly Van hit Cameron, Fox, Dune Entertainment Inc., Ingenious Film Partners LLP, Future Service Inc. and others with a copyright infringement suit on Monday in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California.
