$285M Will Hit Novartis 'Where It Hurts': Plaintiffs

Law360, New York (May 18, 2010, 2:26 PM EDT) -- A plaintiffs' lawyer asked jurors Tuesday to slap Novartis Pharmaceutical Corp. with punitive damages of up to $285 million, a day after the jury found the drugmaker liable for discriminating against a class of 5,600 female sales employees.

David Sanford of Sanford Wittels & Heisler LLP asked the jury at a punitive damages hearing in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York to hit Novartis “where it hurts” to ensure that it treats its female sales representatives fairly.
