Record Cos. Attack Defenses In 'Ellen' Copyright Suit

Law360, New York (May 18, 2010, 6:45 PM EDT) -- UMG Recordings Inc. and its subsidiaries have asked a federal judge to strike affirmative defenses offered by Time Warner Inc. and the producers of “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” in a suit accusing them of illegally playing sound recordings owned by UMG on the television show.
