FTC OKs Google-AdMob Deal, Citing Apple

Law360, New York (May 21, 2010, 6:34 PM EDT) -- The Federal Trade Commission gave its blessing Friday to Google Inc.'s plan to buy mobile advertiser AdMob Inc., concluding that the $750 million acquisition would not strangle competition in the burgeoning market for mobile advertising networks.

The FTC had expressed “serious” antitrust concerns over the tie-up of the rival mobile advertising heavyweights, but all five commissioners voted to close the investigation in light of growing competition in the smartphone industry.
