High Court Rejects Microsoft Appeal Of Lucent Verdict

Law360, New York (May 24, 2010, 11:39 AM EDT) -- The U.S. Supreme Court on Monday denied Microsoft Corp.'s challenge to a jury's finding of patent infringement in favor of Lucent Technologies Inc. in a case dealing with on-screen computer tools.

The justices' decision not to intervene leaves standing a September ruling by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit that a California federal jury's verdict against the software giant was correct but that a $358 million award to Lucent was not supported by the evidence.
