NFL Ruling Raises Antitrust Bar For Joint Ventures

Law360, New York (June 4, 2010, 4:17 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Supreme Court's recent rejection of a push by the National Football League for broader protections from antitrust scrutiny is likely to usher in a new era of legal challenges to joint ventures, antitrust experts say.

In the May 24 decision in American Needle Inc. v. National Football League, the high court suggested that a wide variety of activity by a joint venture could be subject to examination under Section 1 of the Sherman Act.
