GM Tort Claimants Fail To Sway Judge To Allow Suits

Law360, New York (June 1, 2010, 5:41 PM EDT) -- A bankruptcy judge has ordered plaintiffs to halt progress in six product liability suits against the reorganized General Motors LLC, saying the automaker’s sale agreement generally bars the claims despite potential ambiguities.

Judge Robert E. Gerber issued a ruling from the bench Tuesday in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York telling the plaintiffs that they may not proceed with their suits against the new entity.
