Servers Sue Hamptons Restaurant Over Tip Sharing

Law360, New York (June 21, 2010, 4:40 PM EDT) -- A group of former serving staff has targeted Trata East, a high-end Greek restaurant in the Hamptons, claiming it improperly imposed a tip-pooling policy and withheld overtime pay, in one of the first wage-and-hour cases to hit the New York vacation spot.

Four employees lodged the complaint Thursday in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, claiming the restaurants' owner, Orama Inc., violated the Fair Labor Standards Act and the New York Labor Law.
