American Express Sued Over Trademark

Law360, New York (January 31, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- A rival of American Express Co.’s small business division has filed a trademark infringement lawsuit claiming the finance giant fraudulently won a mark that devastated the plaintiff’s once-thriving company.

The lawsuit, filed by Small Business Network Inc., accuses American Express of illegally withholding knowledge of the plaintiff’s corporate name when it trademarked “Open: The Small Business Network.”
