Supporters Pitch $713M Deal To 9/11 Rescue Workers

Law360, New York (June 23, 2010, 2:52 PM EDT) -- Supporters of an up to $712.5 million settlement between the WTC Captive Insurance Co. and 9/11 rescue and cleanup workers sought to sell the deal to roughly 10,000 claimants in a hearing Wednesday.

Knowing that the settlement requires 95 percent participation, lawyers for plaintiffs, the city and the insurer as well as Alvin K. Hellerstein urged claimants to opt in during the fairness hearing in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York.
