IBM Faces EU Antitrust Claims Over Mainframe Software

Law360, New York (June 24, 2010, 12:16 PM EDT) -- Neon Enterprise Software LLC said Thursday it was planning to file a complaint with the European Commission accusing IBM Corp. of maintaining a monopoly in the mainframe software market by bullying competitors in patent infringement suits.

Neon did not specify the allegations it would levy against IBM, but said that the action centered on zPrime, proprietary software created by Neon that enables IBM System z business application workloads to run on specialty processors.
