Judge Lets Ex-Enron Broadband Chief Off The Hook

Law360, New York (February 1, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- Taking a page from a federal appeals court, a Houston district judge has tossed out the conviction of the former chief financial officer for Enron Corp.’s broadband unit in light of the higher court recently overturning a jury conviction in a similar case.

On Wednesday, U.S. District Judge Vanessa Gilmore threw out the guilty verdict of former Enron Broadband executive Kevin Howard, drawing heavily on an August decision handed down by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.
