Sony, Bertelsmann Ask E.C. To Bless Merger

Law360, New York (February 1, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- Sony Corp. and Bertelsmann AG have notified the European Commission once again that they would like regulators to clear the merger of their music units.

The Commission cleared the venture in 2004, only for the European Court of First Instance to overturn the decision last summer.

Audrey Lemonnier, a press officer for competition policy at the Commission, said Thursday that the companies filed an update of their original information on Wednesday.
