Microsoft Adds 5 Patents To DVR Suit Against TiVo

Law360, New York (July 1, 2010, 2:26 PM EDT) -- Microsoft Corp. has upped the ante in its infringement fight with TiVo Inc. over content display and delivery programs, asserting five more patents against the digital video recorder company.

Microsoft filed an amended complaint in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California on Wednesday, alleging the defendant's set-top box products, subscription services and software infringe seven patents covering DVR technology.

The technology giant first sued TiVo in January, asserting two patents, U.S. Patent Numbers 6,008,803, titled “System for displaying programming information,” and 6,055,314,...
