'Harry Potter' Accused Of Copying 'Willy The Wizard'

Law360, New York (July 14, 2010, 2:33 PM EDT) -- Book publisher Scholastic Inc. has been hit with a lawsuit claiming the J.K. Rowling novel “Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire” copied a substantial part of Adrian Jacobs' 1987 book “The Adventures of Willy the Wizard: No. 1 Livid Land.”

Rowling copied swaths of her fourth Harry Potter novel from the deceased writer's book, and Scholastic violated his copyright when it published “Goblet of Fire” in 2000, according to the suit filed in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York....
