STi Settles Calling Card Class Action For $8.4M

Law360, New York (July 15, 2010, 4:15 PM EDT) -- STi Phonecard Inc. has agreed to pay $8.4 million to customers who claim they were shortchanged on calling card minutes, in a deal a plaintiffs' lawyer called the largest deceptive practices settlement to date against the prepaid phone card industry.

Magistrate Judge Madeline C. Arleo put her preliminary stamp on the deal Wednesday in the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey and set a final hearing for Nov. 16.
