Lawmaker Calls Out China For 'Culture Of Thievery'

Law360, New York (July 21, 2010, 1:10 PM EDT) -- Members of the House Committee on Foreign Affairs on Wednesday urged a stronger crackdown on media piracy in foreign countries, particularly China, as Obama administration officials outlined a recently unveiled plan to protect U.S. intellectual property overseas.

At the hearing, committee members expressed concerns to U.S. Intellectual Property Enforcement Coordinator Victoria Espinel that China had turned a blind eye to piracy of American movies and music and suggested that the U.S. impose strict sanctions on the country as a result.
