Steering Flaws Drive Toyota Into More Hot Water

Law360, New York (July 20, 2010, 11:43 AM EDT) -- In yet another safety-related headache for Toyota Motor Corp., a federal grand jury in New York has asked the automaker for documents about defective steering relay rods.

In regulatory filings with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission and the Tokyo Stock Exchange Tuesday, Toyota announced that at least one of its subsidiaries had been served with document requests.

The company, which is already embroiled in multidistrict litigation over it well-known “sticky pedal” problems, said it intends to cooperate with the investigation in the U.S. District Court...
