Visa, UPS, Others Slapped With Web Data Patent Suit

Law360, New York (July 21, 2010, 2:16 PM EDT) -- Webvention LLC has accused 19 companies across a broad array of industries — including ConocoPhillips Co., Dell Inc., UPS Inc. and Visa Inc. — of infringing a patent for online data organization.

Webvention filed suit Tuesday in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas, claiming that certain features on the websites of a host of retailers, energy companies, financial services firms and electronics makers violate U.S. Patent Number 5,251,294.
