Judge Puts Starr's Bail At $10M, Cites Family Distrust

Law360, New York (July 27, 2010, 5:55 PM EDT) -- A federal judge rejected jailed celebrity money manager Kenneth Ira Starr's bail package request Tuesday, saying it showed a lack of trust from his relatives and setting the accused Ponzi schemer's bond at $10 million.

Judge Shira Scheindlin of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York said that Starr's offer of about $2 million, backed mainly by his brother's rare book collection, was "going in the wrong direction."
