Google, Yahoo Lose Bids For Judgment Before IP Trial

Law360, New York (August 2, 2010, 6:52 PM EDT) -- A judge has mostly denied motions for summary judgment by Google Inc. and Yahoo Inc. on the eve of trial in a patent infringement suit by Bright Response LLC over an electronic messaging patent that seeks well over $100 million in damages.

Magistrate Judge Charles Everingham IV of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas ruled on the motions Friday, finding that there remain issues of material fact regarding Google and Yahoo's alleged infringement of the single patent at issue.
