Canada OKs $1.2B Hertz-Dollar Thrifty Merger

Law360, New York (August 2, 2010, 3:30 PM EDT) -- Rental car company Hertz Global Holdings Inc., which signed an agreement to buy Dollar Thrifty Automotive Group Inc. for about $1.2 billion, said Monday that the deal received clearance from Canadian antitrust regulators.

Hertz said the Canadian Competition Bureau sent it a letter on June 27 that signed off on the Hertz-Dollar Thrifty deal. In a statement, Hertz CEO Mark Frissora said getting Canadian regulatory approval for the merger was “another step in the process” to complete the deal.
