Samsung Settlement Over Defective HDTVs OK'd

Law360, New York (August 5, 2010, 7:06 PM EDT) -- A federal judge has approved a class action settlement granting nearly 1.5 million U.S. consumers free repairs on allegedly defective high-definition televisions purchased from Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd.

Magistrate Judge Madeline Cox Arleo of the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey granted final approval to the settlement Thursday, resolving claims over Samsung TVs with a defect that causes them to display shadows.
