Texas Takes Aim At Offshore Drilling Ban

Law360, New York (August 11, 2010, 7:18 PM EDT) -- Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott is challenging the Obama administration’s six-month offshore drilling moratorium as “unjustified,” alleging the federal government should have consulted affected states before letting the ban take effect.

Abbott lodged the complaint on behalf of Texas in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas on Wednesday, targeting the U.S. Department of Interior; Interior Secretary Kenneth Salazar; the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, Regulation and Enforcement; and bureau head Michael Bromwich.
