Exxon Gets Most Of Gas Station Pollution Suit Tossed

Law360, New York (August 12, 2010, 1:04 PM EDT) -- A California environmental group has lost a bid to hold Exxon Mobil Corp. accountable under the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act for allegedly releasing hazardous waste from gas stations it sold to another company in 2000.

The violations alleged in Northern California River Watch's suit are 'wholly past' under the law because Exxon has sold the properties, Judge Phyllis J. Hamilton of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California ruled Wednesday.
