Software Co. Blasted With $5M Suit Over 'Jedi' Marks

Law360, New York (August 20, 2010, 4:49 PM EDT) -- Lucasfilm Ltd. has accused Jedi Mind Inc. of using the force of the "Star Wars" production company's famous warrior-monk trademarks to sell software that allegedly lets users control their computers with their thoughts.

The complaint — filed Tuesday in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California — seeks $5 million in compensation, as well as treble damages, from the company and its President, CEO, Chief Financial Officer and primary shareholder Brent Fouch for their decision to "knowingly and maliciously" infringe the "Jedi" trademarks....
