Marathon, Dominion To Pay $7M To End Royalty Suit

Law360, New York (August 23, 2010, 2:09 PM EDT) -- Marathon Oil Co. and Dominion Oklahoma Texas Exploration & Production Inc. have agreed to pay $4.7 million and $2.2 million, respectively, to end a whistleblower case accusing the companies of underpaying royalties on natural gas produced from federal and Indian leases.

The companies inked the deals to settle allegations in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas that they violated the False Claims Act, the U.S. Department of Justice said in announcing the agreements Friday.
