NJ Court Affirms $9M Asbestos Award Against Exxon

Law360, New York (August 23, 2010, 2:56 PM EDT) -- A New Jersey woman dying of mesothelioma has convinced a state appeals court to uphold a $9.3 million judgment against Exxon Mobil Corp., even though she once worked for the company and could have been excluded by workers' compensation laws.

Plaintiff Bonnie Anderson's husband, John, also worked for Exxon, at its Linden Bayway Refinery, where for years he chipped asbestos-laden insulation off machines before bringing his dusty work clothes home for Bonnie to wash.
