Pfizer Sues Online "Viagra" Marketers

Law360, New York (August 4, 2004, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Drug maker Pfizer Inc. has launched a legal broadside to stamp out online sales of counterfeit Viagra.

On Tuesday, Pfizer filed lawsuits in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York in Manhattan against three companies and two individuals operating websites that allegedly sell counterfeit versions of the drug against erectile dysfunction.

The complaints charge the website operators with trademark infringement, unfair competition, deceptive trade practices and cyberpiracy under federal and New York laws. Pfizer said these operators were selected because the company...
